The First Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi (after 2 decades) at World Economic Forum delivering his speech- promoting India.
The first Indian Prime Minister participated in World Economic Forum meeting at Davos in Switzerland. Last time was in 1997 by then Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda. Narendra Modi was at the opening speech of World Economic Forum 2018, in his speech he promoted India and invited foreign investors for business, he also encouraged foreign manufacturers to come “Make in India”.
Before his speech, PM Modi said: “look forward to sharing my vision for India’s future engagement with the international community”. Further, in his speech, he mentioned about good terrorists and bad terrorists and said: “Terrorism is dangerous but equally dangerous is the artificial difference created between good terrorists and bad terrorists,”. 70 head of states. 38 leaders from the major international organization such as WTO, World Bank, IMF and almost 2000 CEO’s, approx 100 CEO’s from India have said to be attended the event.
India was the highlight of the program as India hosted a welcome reception for the Global elite attendees. World Economic Forum said that this year’s summit will have the largest-ever global leaders. India had its largest ever participation in the event. The programme had 400 sessions and the theme “Creating a Shared future in a Fractured World”.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also hosted a roundtable meeting with the CEO’s globally at Davos in a snow-covered mountain resort in Switzerland. Under the tagline “India means business” 40 global CEO’s and 20 from India attended the roundtable meeting. PM Modi will also have a bilateral meeting with Sweden Prime Minister Stevan Lofven.
World’s most powerful politicians and host of WEF was Emmanuel Macron, Angela Merkel, Theresa May, Justin Trudeau, Benjamin Netanyahu, Mauricio Macri Emmerson Mnangagwa and Narendra Modi.
- Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu said it’s a historical day for India over Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s speech at the World Economic Forum. “PM gave a very good message to global community especially on geopolitics, terrorism, and environmental issues,”
- Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis applauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s speech calling it “a speech of a statesman and a global leader”. He further talked about the three crucial points which PM Modi made concerning the world – global warming, terrorism and protectionism. “On all these points, he could highlight what India is doing and what India has done and what India aspires to do. Most other leaders are going the other way and here is one leader who says I believe in globalization,” Mr. Fadnavis told NDTV.
