Budget 2018 is the last budget before 2019 polls. Finance Minister Arun Jaitley and his team have worked towards agricultural distress; create employment, growth and fiscal prudence.
Around 30 minutes in the budget speech farmers were the main focus. Finance Minister Arun Jaitley announced MSP (Minimum Support Price) for farmers along with operation green to boost the production.
The focus of the budget was for the ‘Ease of living’ for poorest of the poor. Breaking the tradition the budget speech was delivered in Hindi and English.
The fifth budget of Narendra Modi government is the toughest budget, addressing farmer’s distress; provide job opportunity while sticking to fiscal prudence and of course the GST. This budget is watched closely by to find out the growth opportunities to Asia’s 3rd largest economy.
The government will extend a favorable tax arrangement for farmer organizations. The details will be provided later,” says Finance Minister Arun Jaitley.
The budget will also focus on cluster development model for agri crops and horticulture.
The government will also extend Kisan credit card to the farmers of fisheries and animal husbandry.
Grameen Agricultural Market (GRAM) will help farmers to sell directly to the sellers.
Allocation of Rs 1,290 crore to promote the Bamboo Sector as the finance minister calls Bamboo a ‘Green Gold’.
“We have taken up programs to direct the benefits of structural reforms and good growth to reach the farmers, poor and other vulnerable sections of the society and uplift the underdeveloped regions,” finance minister Arun Jaitley told lawmakers in New Delhi on Thursday. “This year’s budget will consolidate these aims and particularly focus on strengthening agriculture and rural economy.”
“We are allocating Rs 1 Lakh crore in the next four years to boost Research and Development. We are also coming up with a specialized railway university at Vadodara. Demographic dividend realization is impossible without proper healthcare. Health and wellness centers to bring healthcare closer and more accessible to people. Rs 1200 crores earmarked for this flagship program under the National Health Policy 2017. Healthcare protection is at a new aspirational level. We are now launching a new national health protection scheme – Rashtriya Samaj Beema Yojana. This will have 50 crore beneficiaries and 10 crore families will get 5 lakh per year for their families to cover secondary and tertiary hospital expenses. This is the world’s largest government-funded healthcare program. A Rs 600 crore corpus is being set up to help Tuberculosis patients. This will build a new India in 2022 and enhance productivity and will also generate lakhs of jobs for women. We are progressing towards Universal Health Coverage,” says Finance Minister Arun Jaitley.
